The main purpose of Yell, UK's local search engine that provides access to classified business information is to put potential customers in touch with sellers.

Considering the fact that 95 percent of active UK mobile phones are internet-enabled, more services are being made available for mobile Internet users.

Yell.com has announced the launch of two new mobile services, application-based, developed by leading mobile search company mobilePeople and browser-based, offering UK customers the most advanced and feature-rich mobile services of their kind.

Through the local information
services business names, addresses and telephone numbers will be available for the consumers free of charge.

Yell.com has decided to provide both a browser and an application version of the services in order to be sure that most mobile phone users will be able to access the information directly on their phones. Aside from the information it offers, Yell on mobile also provides zoomable maps and turn-by-turn directions.

Martin Wilson, head of Yell.com mobile marketing, said: "We're entering a highly exciting period of development within the mobile internet arena. As more advanced handsets become the norm and 3G technology begins to become more widely adopted, we can expect more and more regular users of mobile internet services".

"Yell.com believes that the time is now right to build on its commitment in this space and offer a wider and enhanced service range. Key characteristics of the mobile web will be immediacy and proximity. Our strong Yellow Pages heritage in classified local business information, combined with our new media knowledge from Yell.com and earlier pioneering work in mobile services, puts us in a great position to provide world-beating services that deliver what people need when they are on the move."

The information provided by the services can be saved to a phone's contacts. The user also has the possibility to share this information with someone else by text.
