Opera is one of the most popular browsers on the internet, representing a powerful rival for the two giants in the category, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Opera was initially available along with a shareware license but the developers decided to make it freeware after the fight for the leader position was becoming more and more difficult. Because Opera currently own a huge number of clients, the company decided to develop a mobile version of the application to allow customers to use the software solution on any handheld device. Opera Mini was launched last year in
January and currently has more than 8 million users.

Recently, Yahoo launched a new version of its mobile search service that allows users to find what they were looking for directly from the handheld device and with a single search. Multiple companies were attracted by this solution, wanting to include it on their products. One of these firms is also Opera, the developer of the popular browser.

IT News Online reported that Opera made a partnership with Yahoo to include the oneSearch technology in their Opera Mini and Opera Mobile products.

"We are happy to announce this strategic cooperation with Yahoo! on mobile search. Opera has shipped more than 50 million mobile browsers and our experience is that search is one of the most important services to be included in a mobile browser. Therefore it has been important for us to find a partner that will work closely with Opera to optimize the user experience," ," said Jon S. von Tetzchner, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Opera Software, according to IT News Online.

"The powerful and popular Opera Mobile browser is a perfect match for Yahoo!'s innovative mobile Internet services. This new partnership will give the millions of Opera Mobile and Opera Mini customers around the world the ability to easily use Yahoo! oneSearch to find the information they need," ," said Marco Boerries, senior vice president of connected life, Yahoo!, the same source reported.
