European and North American consumers stand to benefit from an Yahoo and HP partnership according to which, the Sunnyvale-based Internet giant will have the exclusivity over delivering online services on HP desktops and notebooks. According to the agreement, the upcoming IE 7 on HP machines will feature Yahoo start page and the Yahoo search engine set as defaults. Moreover, the duo will push a co-branded toolbar providing instant access to search, mail, news and finance services powered by Yahoo. "Partnering with a company like HP, that has been a leader in its industry for many years, puts Yahoo in an excellent position to be able to distribute our most widely adopted offerings, like Yahoo Search and the new Yahoo Mail, to an even broader audience across the globe," stated Dan Rosensweig, chief operating officer, Yahoo Inc. "This relationship is an important component of Yahoo's overall strategy to partner with leading global brands that will enable us to further extend our products and services to the world's community of Internet users." "We see HP's commitment to delivering a great PC experience with our world-class products and Yahoo!'s ability to offer the best online experience available as the ideal combination for our customers," said Bob Lund, general manager, worldwide beyond the box team, PSG, HP. "HP is constantly evaluating ways to add value for our customers and working with Yahoo helps us continue to enhance our PC users' experience and life online."
