One of the main disadvantages of using the Mozilla Foundation open-source browser is that several web pages and services were built for Internet Explorer compatibility, which is why FireFox users sometimes get browsing errors.
Starting in February Yahoo launched a FireFox-compatible toolbar, proving supportiveness for the open-source community and its increasing number of users.
Some of the Yahoo services however still remain available only when using the Microsoft software. Even though the main services are "universally available", Yahoo
Messenger users for instance are unable to personalize avatars when using FireFox.
Yahoo recently stated that all new services are to be tested before release for compatibility with both browsers. No clarifications were made about possible Yahoo error remedies or lacks with regard to the FireFox users.
The newest Yahoo service released is Yahoo 360°, the debut of the blog (online diary) search engine. For now, the service is only available in beta version and is free for all testers.
Blogs enable users to remain in touch with their friends anywhere, by posting pictures, images or "monolog-chatting". Similar services are already present on the market, the main Yahoo competitors being (as usually in the online business: webmail, chat, online search, desktop information search) Google and Microsoft.
The blog searching facility of the latest was launched in December and is known as MSN Spaces, while Google administers its own blog service (Blogger) and the Orkut site, dedicated to social networking.
