Yahoo!'s Tech Ticker so Close that You Can See It

…in a screenshot at the moment

The way Yahoo! has decided to go about its tech news has raised enough controversy in the ranks of those interested in the segment. It has attempted this type of format, a channel with hosts to focus on financial news before and it didn't prove back then to be the winning move,
why would it now? It's supposed to go live in the next few weeks, but according to unnamed sources cited by Michael Arrington of TechCrunch.com, it might be here as soon as next week.

The main points under discussion about the channel is whether a delayed (you know that when it comes to this, time is of the essence) 10-minute show will help its viewers better than, say, getting the same information by skimming a couple of blogs that cover the subject in 2 minutes. Oh, and furthermore, this type of presentation might have worked when the Internet wasn't such a big thing, back in the 20th century (that sounds weird), but now, when people are more web savvy, its format may encourage them to skip to something else instead of waiting on the information.

The hosts that I mentioned earlier are the controversial Henry Blodget ,from the Silicon Alley Insider, Sarah Lacy, who's a Business Week columnist, and Paul Kedrosky. The screenshot on the left shows the first two inside a NASDAQ building and, as Michael Arrington joked, it is captured just prior to locking into a passionate embrace.

The most comments I've read and heard are actually connected to that and show how little the world has changed: stuff like "a good looking woman knowing her way around the tech industry? Not likely." Yes, it looks like many still think that having brains and using them is strictly a male prerogative.
