Yahoo has announced some big plans to get back in the game. While it is a little short on details, it's not lacking in ambition. One of the first concrete steps towards a revamped Yahoo is a new Search page which is coming in the near-term.

"This fall, we’re making one of our most significant updates to Yahoo! Search to provide new experiences on the search results page and across the Yahoo! network," Yahoo said.

"Today we’re giving you a sneak peek at just a few of the enhancements coming to Yahoo! Search," Kaushal Kurapati, Director of Product Management, Emerging Markets at Yahoo Search, Caroline Tsay, Director of Product Management at Yahoo Search, announced.

Yahoo has vowed to transform the company in three years time. Not only it plans to grow at a pace not seen for the past years, it also wants to change the way it operates.

Specifically, it wants to be more nimble, and update its products faster than before. For now, it plans to launch a revamped Yahoo Mail and Yahoo Search, later this fall.

"With more searches than ever for information-rich topics like music, movies, and news, we’ll be launching new, more visually compelling search results that let you discover information and be entertained all on one search result page," the announcement added.

With Bing now powering Yahoo Search, the team is focusing on the user experience. Yahoo has been working on making search more useful by providing more information than just basic results.

With the new Yahoo Search there will be more rich results. For example, entertainment searches, will provide additional data for music, movies and so on in the form of news articles, images, videos, tweets and even events and ratings.

The News Search will also get an update which will include similar features, adding videos, images, tweets and other info to the articles. There are other tweaks and new features coming to all search properties this fall.
