An Android version is also set to be launched sometime soon

Yahoo launched a cool new mobile app for iOS devices called Yahoo Screen.

Basically, the app is a portal that enables users to view content from the large number of Yahoo video partners that features a bunch of famous networks.

The service features a large number of licensed content, including the 5,000 clips of Saturday Night Live broadcasted over the past decades, that Yahoo secured streaming rights for a few months ago.

At the same time, Yahoo is releasing a bunch of new comedy series and a new licensing agreement with Viacom, which means Comedy Central shows “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” are available on Yahoo Screen as well.

“South Park” lovers should also be thrilled to know that the show will be available starting next month.

The app is particularly easy to figure out. Content is organized in horizontal channels and videos can be accessed without even leaving the home screen since the app allows swiping to the right to explore more videos.

Content can be shared via various platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and email. Moreover, there are no ads in the app, but there’s no clue if any will be added anytime soon.

The app has some shortcomings. For instance, there is no opportunity to save content to view offline. Furthermore, there are no settings to allow some personalization of the videos made available to use.

However, the company says using the app often and watching a lot of content will help it provide more personalized lists based on past viewing behavior.

The Yahoo Screen site has also been redesigned to make it similar to the mobile version, simply replacing the swipe or tap with mouse actions.

As the iOS app is released, there’s an Android version on its way as well, which is only logical. However, there’s no release date for this one.
