Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer has announced a few updates for users of Yahoo!’s email services targeting both desktop users and mobile clients as well. On iOS, customers are getting a clutter-free email experience via a brand new Yahoo! Mail app.

Released as a free download in Apple’s iOS App Store, Yahoo! Mail provides a fast and feature-rich mail experience, according to its makers.

CEO Marissa Mayer writes on the Yahoo! blog, “You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day. And we’ve listened. Starting today, the new Yahoo! Mail is fast, easy and available anywhere you go.”

That should be enough incentive to go try it out. Requirements include anything from iPhone 3GS onward with iOS 6.0 or later. Yes, nothing on iOS 5 or below will support the new Yahoo! Mail experience. The app is also optimized for iPhone 5.
