Yahoo Revamps Toolbar for IE and Bookmarks

- Better Bookmarks, Better Toolbar

By: Marius Oiaga, Technology News Editor

The Sunnyvale Company has debuted overhauled beta versions of Yahoo Toolbar for Internet Explorer and Yahoo Bookmarks. Designed to integrate with the final version of Internet
Explorer 7, the Yahoo Toolbar 7.0 Beta is incompatible with IE7 Beta and with Windows Vista Beta. Yahoo has revealed that it is hard at work together with Microsoft in order to resolve compatibility issues.

"Here's a quick rundown of the new features on both products. Long-time users of Yahoo! Toolbar and Yahoo! Bookmarks should find that this combined release delivers a lot of what they've been waiting for," stated Yahoo.

The Yahoo Toolbar 7.0 Beta features seamlessness integration with Yahoo Bookmarks, type-ahead bookmark suggestions to the entries made in the toolbar search box and increased flexibility and control as users are enabled to create and use customized buttons.

The Sunnyvale Company has revealed that the overhauling of Yahoo Bookmarks will deliver a next-generation bookmarking experience.

Here are some new features introduced with the new Yahoo Bookmarks Beta:

- Advanced search functionality
- Thumbnails for quickly recognizing sites
- Convenient drag-and-drop management
- Organize bookmarks with folders and tags
- Ability to save page content along with the URL
- Editing abilities when saving
- An end to the 1000 bookmark limit

"The all new Yahoo Bookmarks will focus on personal saving, organization, and recovery while our comrades at del.icio.us will concentrate on meeting your social bookmarking and sharing needs. For users of MyWeb, your bookmarks are safe, and in a few months you'll be able to roll over to either Yahoo Bookmarks or del.icio.us. We'll explain this process more thoroughly in future posts," added Yahoo.
