The Sunnyvale company Yahoo is now trying a different strategy to make its portal more attractive for the Internet users: it places non-Yahoo links straight on the main page of the company. The first link that doesn't belong to Yahoo and that was placed on the portal is owned by TechCrunch. According to this company, the guys from Yahoo contacted them to inform their officials about the outsite-Yahoo links. "So it surprised us when Yahoo contacted us earlier this week to say that they are testing outside links from their home page. The goal, they say, is to make Yahoo.com as relevant as possible to their. By linking to outside websites, their hope is that the relevance (perceived or actual) of the Yahoo portal will increase," TechCrunch sustained in an article published today.

According to the same publication, Yahoo is currently conducting only a beta test of an upcoming feature, but the company is not 100 percent sure that it will include non-Yahoo links into the portal. The CrunchGear article appeared in the Featured tab published on Yahoo's portal and was placed along other articles owned by the Sunnyvale company. At this time, the website shows only Yahoo headlines, no other website being included in the listings.

As far I can see, more and more Internet giants are now aiming to make the competition equal for all the companies because most of them are providing direct access to other sources. Take the example of Google, the company that owns the best search engine on the Internet. As you might know, the search giant is also including YouTube clips among the results returned by its products. However, Google recently introduced some other clips into their results, such as Metacafe videos although it is one of the most powerful rivals for the recently acquired product.
