Firefox is one of the most popular browsers on the Internet, being developed by Mozilla and allowing users to customize the functionality using several plugins and add-ons. Because it is so used, Yahoo decided to promote some utilities through the Yahoo Search blog and encourage users to install certain extensions. Today, the company brings the Del.icio.us Bookmarks add-on in the spotlights after the extension was recently improved with new features. The extension was created in October 2006, being one of the most installed plugins for Mozilla Firefox.

"Today's release is the culmination of months of gathering feedback and turning it into real improvements for our users. The latest extension allows you to easily import, manage, share, search and sort thousands of bookmarks from within Firefox in a way that is familiar to anyone who's ever bookmarked a page in a web browser," Nick Nguyen and Patrick Hunt sustained on the Yahoo Search blog.

This is not the first time when Yahoo is involved in numerous actions to promote browsers or add-ons able to work with the most popular Internet applications. Some time ago, Microsoft released Internet Explorer 7 and made it available for free download. Because it was one of the most expected programs on the Internet, the giant portal optimized the application to design a new Yahoo edition bundled with the company's products. Internet Explorer 7 included Yahoo Toolbar and other utilities able to provide instant access to the services provided by the company.

At that time, Google also decided to release a special version of Internet Explorer optimized for Google, containing Google Toolbar and other utilities designed by the search giant. Because it was a special product, both Google and Yahoo created a separate page for the application. Google created exactly the same page as Yahoo, the search giant being accused for copying the website although the company removed it quickly.
