Yahoo managed to restore access, but mails are missing for a lot of users

It took three days, but Yahoo Mail is back in working order for all those who have been affected by the prolonged downtime. However, to the dismay of many of these users, many of the emails that they have received during these days seem to have been lost.

Yahoo says, however, that it is currently working on bringing all accounts up to date, together with the emails between 11/25 and 9/12 that have disappeared from the Inbox.

“We’re also working on restoring IMAP and POP access for those of you accessing your email through a non-Yahoo app (such as Outlook, Apple Mail, or the native mail app on your phone),” the company said in a message.

Aside from finally being able to access their inboxes from browsers, users can also get their content via iOS, Android and Windows 8 Yahoo Mail apps.

Understandably, thousands of people have expressed their displeasure with the service and if they weren’t determined to switch to other mailing services after Yahoo switched over to the new Mail version, they are now.

A lot of Softpedia readers commented that they were already working on setting up a Gmail account since the issue that took three days to fix was the drop that filled the glass for them.

“I have 5 yahoo accounts and the only one that I truly use and cherish is the one that has been out since Monday. I have already started switching some contacts to Gmail. Hopefully the 5 p.m. CST deadline will bring some good news. I am so FRUSTRATED,” one reader said.

Of course, the deadline wasn’t actually respected and it took several more hours for Yahoo to fix things up after announcing that it was a hardware problem in one of the mail data centers that was causing all the issues.
