Yahoo has decided to give e-commerce sites, and not only, a hand and it launched the Yahoo Shopping API, so that every programmer can develop applications using this service as cornerstone.
Practically, from now on, every site will be able to implement
product information and price comparisons present on Yahoo Shopping, as long as they mention that the information is provided by Yahoo.
By using this API, one can also create applications for specific searches, such as price, rating or a certain distributor, in Yahoo Shopping's database.
In this way, e-commerce sites will be much easier to create and even improved with new features.
"We're excited to see how developers will use this information," said Chris Saito, director of product development at Yahoo.
Lately, launching APIs for developers has become a quite a trend. Last month, both Yahoo and Google have put their mapping APIs at the disposal of the community, which led to the appearance of numerous sites with attractive information.
