Or at least they suffered from major lag

The Sunnyvale company Yahoo and the owner of numerous Internet services was affected by a major downtime or at least slow loading times for most of its solutions. Although there was no official statement concerning the problems, the consumers from every corner of the world reported loading issues with Yahoo Messenger, Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Search and even the entire portal owned by the Sunnyvale giant. Caroline McCarthy from CNET also encountered problems with some of the products including Flickr, the famous online photo sharing service.

Personally, I encountered problems with most of the Yahoo products such as Yahoo Messenger and Yahoo Mail. The instant messaging client was even weirder because it had an unusual behavior as it refused to connect to the server. Additionally, Yahoo Messenger opened a website to enter my account information that redirected me to the web version of the application. After a long period of unavailability (a few hours), Yahoo Messenger was back online and worked fine.

The comments posted on the CNET article are revealing problems in every corner of the world: Romania, Los Angeles, Florida, Detroit, Ohio, Wisconsin, Philadelphia and Boston Area.

"We've been hearing reports of lag and downtime issues involving Yahoo and several of its properties Friday morning: Yahoo's instant messaging client has been on and off, a reader reported that the Flickr photo-sharing site was down (worked fine for me, though) and the Yahoo main home page and Yahoo News portal have been fickle as well," the CNET editor wrote.

Yahoo is one of the most popular Internet companies and a major downtime for most of its solutions is quite important because the disappointed consumer who is not able to use a certain product can look for a better alternative powered by one of the Yahoo rivals. Maybe Google, I presume...
