Vodafone Portugal and Yahoo signed a deal to provide instant access to Yahoo Messenger for all the phones connected to the Vodafone Live network. Every interested Vodafone consumer who wants to communicate with his friends using the mobile version of Yahoo Messenger has to pay 3 euros monthly but until November, the service is available for free for all the users. According to Unstrung, Yahoo Messenger is not the first instant messaging client which joins Vodafone Portugal as the country's mobile operator already offers Windows Live Messenger since July 11.

The mobile version of Yahoo Messenger works just like the PC version with a single major difference: it can be accessed from any location, at any time without paying anything than the monthly fee. If you're a Portugal resident and a consumer of Vodafone, you can enable the service by sending a SMS to 12345 containing the "IM" term. After that, you'll have to download and install an application that will allow you to chat on the Yahoo Messenger network.

"Vodafone Messenger is part of Vodafone's new Mobile Internet offer, for which agreements have been signed with the leading Internet brands including Yahoo!. The launch of this service is part of Vodafone's major investment in mobile-PC convergence, enabling its customers to use the services they are used to regardless of the form of access, and with a simple and transparent experience," Unstrung reports.

As you can see, the giant portal Yahoo is an important partner for the mobile operators because its instant messaging application is popular in every corner of the world. Using the Vodafone - Yahoo deal, every consumer is now able to communicate with his friends connected to Yahoo Messenger and send messages wherever he goes.

Just like usual, you can download the latest version of Yahoo Messenger straight from Softpedia using this link.
