Yahoo has just announced it has started to roll out a major update for its new Mail application. Although the update is only available on iPhone and iPad for the moment, developers announce it will be rolling out for Android over the next week as well.

The aim of the latest update is to put the most important information right at your fingertips. In this regard, the application has been redesigned “with a focus on simplicity.” The update should add one-tap access to personalized, real-time information that’s important for the user.

Developers added a new panel at the top with icons for Mail, News and Today. This is the place where Yahoo Mail users will get all the news and info in one integrated experience.

In addition, Yahoo has also confirmed that the update introduces a new experience when you search for people in the inbox. Yes, the latest version of Yahoo Mail features smart search, so when you start typing a name, the application offers smart search suggestions to help find results faster.

Last but not least, Yahoo Mail users can now swipe from tab to tab on Android smartphones. As mentioned earlier, these changes will come to the Android version of Yahoo Mail next week, but iPhone and iPad users can check them out today.
