Yahoo Mail is getting a much needed feature, which is some time overdue. When the new Yahoo Mail was launched, not exactly recently, several features got left behind leading to quite an uneven experience. One minute you're in the 'new' Yahoo Mail, the next you're in another window in Yahoo Calendar sporting the same 'old school' look it has for several years now. Not anymore, Yahoo has finally gotten around to it and integrated Calendar with the fresh Yahoo Mail app, so clicking on the Calendar link will open a new tab inside Yahoo Mail.

"Your top request on our Yahoo! Calendar suggestion board was to make the Calendar open as a tab in the All-New version of Yahoo! Mail. Well, your wish is our command, and over the coming weeks we will begin to roll this change out to everyone," Andrew Molyneux, Program Manager for Yahoo Mail, wrote.

In order to get the just-as-new Yahoo Calendar, still in beta, to fit into the all-new Yahoo Mail, the developers had to do a little bit of trimming. So, the left-hand sidebar with the full-month display, search and calendar selector was folded into a collapsible tab inside the main calendar area. This way, it can be neatly integrated into Yahoo Mail as just another tab, like your inbox or the What's New section.

With this change behind them, the developers could get to work on the actual integration, which is now ready for its big debut. Both features are being rolled out and should be coming in the next few days. The expandable sidebar will come first and some users may have already gotten it. After that, the fresh Yahoo Calendar tab will be rolled out and everyone should be seeing it in a matter of days. There's one caveat though, you have to be using the new beta Yahoo Calendar for this to work. Don't let the beta tag fool you, the tool is more than ready for anything you can throw at it and you can make the switch right here.

Good coverage of the new calendar features. Missing, however, is a way to PRINT the new calendar, say, in landscape format and for a month. Can this be done? Is this a future feature? One month can be COPYed and PASTEd into a one-cell Word table, and then printed from Word. Events can even be added to this Word file. But why should I have to go through this extra effort? Please, just make the various formats printable, so I use the old functionality in the New Yahoo.
