Yahoo is introducing a few new features for Yahoo Mail Beta users. Those running the latest version of the popular webmail client already have a number of unique features and the updates continue to improve them.

You can now chat with your Facebook friends from inside Mail, just like you can with Messenger. Users will also be able to access their past IM conversations which are now stored online regardless of which client they used.

"Now you can chat with your Facebook friends in Yahoo! Mail too! On the left, you’ll see 'Facebook Friends' under 'Online Contacts'," Yahoo announced.

"If you click on the thunderbolt, you will be prompted to authenticate on Facebook Connect (if you haven’t already). Once you've authenticated, your online Facebook friends will appear below 'Online Contacts' and you can chat freely," it explained.

Yahoo has been working on integrating Facebook into all of its products and its communication-related ones make the most sense. The latest Yahoo Messenger 11 Beta enables users to chat with Facebook friends, just like they can with their regular Yahoo and Hotmail contacts.

In Yahoo Mail Beta, Facebook updates were already integrated. Now you can also chat with Facebook friends via the built in chat client.

The latest Yahoo Mail Beta update also introduces a welcomed UI tweak. By default, the header of the page remains static and you can only scroll through the lower part, where the messages and the actual content is.

But since the header is not always needed, it just takes up space that would rather be used to display content. Now, users can disable the static header by enabling the "Scroll content of the entire page" in their Mail options.

One final new feature rolling out for Yahoo Mail Beta users is the new Conversation tabs. Just below the Inbox link, you will be able to access your archived IM conversations made in Yahoo Mail Beta and the latest Yahoo Messenger 11 Beta. Note that all of these features are being rolled out and may not have been enabled for you yet.
