Yahoo revealed a revamped News Search page in the US a couple of months back, and the company is now ready to roll out the redesign to more languages. Speakers of French, Spanish, German, and Indonesian in 11 countries will now get access to the new site and all the brand-new features introduced. Yahoo says this is just the first step of the international roll-out.

“Back in April, we introduced a new look for Yahoo! News Search in the U.S. market, featuring news source refiners, time refiners, and rich results to help you find what you’re looking for quickly and seamlessly,” Yahoo Search’s Paul Ko wrote.

“We’ve just launched the new Yahoo! News Search page for French, Spanish, German, and Indonesian language users in 11 international markets... This is a part of our effort to focus on the needs of international markets. If you use Yahoo! in French, German, Spanish, or Indonesian, be sure to search for any hot news topics in the enhanced News Search page,” he announced.

One of the new features introduced with the redesigned Yahoo News Search is the left-side filter bar which enables users to refine their searches based on several criteria. For example, results can be narrowed down by sources, so if you have a preferred publication, you can see only the articles posted by its editors.

Another useful filter, especially when it comes to news, is the timeline. You can choose to see only the freshest articles published less than an hour ago, but also those published just in the last day or the last week.

Yahoo News also features a Related Concepts section which, just like similar ideas on other search engines, lists topics which are close to the one you searched for. All of these new features are available for the four languages now supported. Yahoo says it will launch the new Yahoo News in other global markets over time.
