The ongoing war between MSN, Google and Yahoo is starting to engulf all the fields related to searching.
One of GMail's most interesting features is the possibility to search through the thousands of messages using the same algorithms as the Web searching, and Yahoo couldn't afford not to offer a similar feature.
In fact, Yahoo's e-mail service has been
going through all sorts of transformations, but on today's menu, users can find a nice dish of searching. Since Yahoo's e-mail accounts have also reached 1GB, it was obvious that a searching function was required.
Users can either employ the searching field in which the desired keyword is typed in, but in order to find the needle in a haystack, Yahoo Mail is also offering a more advanced searching where they can specify criteria, such as, the sender's address, subject, date and whether the searching operation will scan only messages with attachments; users can also choose between scanning only read or unread messages.
Another interesting feature is photo searching: Yahoo will display the pictures' thumbnails, allowing the user in this way to quickly select the desired photo.
Yahoo Mail has 219 million accounts, the company being Hotmail's main competitor; Microsoft's service has 221 million accounts.
