Three months ago, Yahoo announced the launching of the trial version for its digital music download service, Yahoo Music Unlimited, which gives access to a catalog with over 1 million songs for fees of $4.99 per month (for yearly subscriptions) and $6.99, for the monthly subscriptions.

Music Unlimited, currently available only in the US, hasn't been promoted in any way so far, but this is about to end. Yahoo Music Unlimited officials said that on August 28, the service will start at MTV Music Awards a promoting campaign, which will include spots and banners, scheduled to last until December.
Yahoo is currently the player with the cheapest offer for digital music download, Napster and Real Network Rhapsody having yearly subscriptions of over $10.
Analysts still believe that Yahoo won't be able to keep the prices so low, but if the service draws enough fans, they could be wrong.
Apple and iTunes might also have to suffer from Yahoo Music Unlimited's aggressive campaign, but, as everyone knows, iTunes doesn't offer monthly subscriptions. The answer to the question: 'What do users want: to buy or to rent music?' might be revealed in a few months.
