Making it easier to find the right image and share it with friends

Yahoo has announced a couple of new features for its image search engine. They're not game changers, but they should prove useful in some cases. Users can now share images they find via Yahoo Search with their Twitter or Facebook friends.

The image results page also gets infinite scrolling, there are no more pages, so you can simply scroll down to see more images until you find the right one (or give up).

"We are introducing two new, important features today on Yahoo! Image search to help users get the best out of searching for photos online," Yahoo announced.

"Yahoo! Image Search now provides the ability to share any image through Facebook and Twitter," it explained.

Just like most image search engines, clicking on one of the thumbnail results will not lead you to the original page or the image.

Instead, you get an interstitial page with the image you are looking for, but also a slideshow of other images in the results. The original page is slotted in a frame below.

It's on this page that you now get the two buttons for sharing, one for Twitter one for Facebook. They work as you'd expect, as long as you've connected your accounts. The links shared with friends point to the Yahoo page rather than the original one.

"In addition to social sharing, users can scroll down the Yahoo! Image search results to see more and more photos! Type a query for a current event and users will see photos pertaining to breaking news, along with the ability to continuously scroll through the results – all unique to Yahoo! Image Search," Yahoo also said.

Infinite scrolling is not exactly new, Google Image Search introduced the same design feature last year. But it does make searching for the perfect image easier since you don't have to flip through several pages to get to it.
