Yahoo has started to test the Web e-mail service's new interface, based on DHTML, which proposes a look and functionalities much closer to that of an e-mail client.
The users will be able to move the messages in folders with drag&drop operations. The technology Yahoo has acquired together with the Oddpost company
is aimed at improving the interaction between the users and the web e-mail service.
Yahoo is planning to invite as many users as possible to test the new service, but the company didn't specify how long the testing period will last; Yahoo only said that if the new interface is well received, all the accounts will be converted to it.
Yahoo's goal is to allow the users to carry out all the tasks without having to click Back and Forward in the browser. Currently, the new interface can only be tested by the residents from the US.
Yahoo introduced the web e-mail service 8 years ago and the company is currently the leader on the market, 63 million Americans having a Yahoo Mail account.
