Yahoo Go 2.0 has been available for a free trial from the beginning of this year. Now, Yahoo has announced that it will officially introduce it later this week.

This new Internet service is aimed at worldwide mobile phone users and means to make it easier for them to find the most relevant information on the Web. Yahoo Go 2.0 has been available since the beginning of this year for free download by all handset users in the US. The upgraded version of Yahoo Go allows users to organize e-mails, search the Web for information and even view maps.

Yahoo plans on making this service available for a huge number of phones from Europe and Asia too by the end of this year. "We believe more people are going to access the Internet on their mobile devices in 10 years time than on the PC, so we have really been concentrating on this area", said Geraldine Wilson, the European head of Yahoo's Connected Life unit.

In order to manage this, Yahoo is currently working on signing as many deals as possible with local network operators from these continents. The same goes for US carriers, although no specific information has been revealed until now on the current evolution of these negotiations.

An average number of mobile phones which are currently being shipped is of 40 percent and rapidly growing. By the end of the year, 60 percent of devices will come with this type of capabilities, which makes Yahoo's mobile browser most welcomed.

Yahoo has already signed contracts with leading mobile phone manufacturers in order to make sure that Yahoo Go 2.0 will be pre-installed on as many devices as possible. Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and Research in Motion have all agreed to offer Yahoo's software on their phones.
