The Q&A service now contains one million questions

The competition between the Q&A technologies is getting fiercer, Yahoo being one of the leaders which attract the majority of users with its Yahoo Answers service. But the competition comes from where nobody would have expected: Answers.com's WikiAnswers reached the one million questions milestone and it seems that the company wants even more. But I'm sure Yahoo Answers will remain the top service in the category because most users are attracted by the Yahoo brand which is famous all around the world. Getting back to WikiAnswers, it contains more than 2,100 categories of questions, many of them already answered by the registered members.

"We are thrilled by this achievement. The rate at which our community of contributors is growing is testament to the attractiveness of the WikiAnswers approach," said Jay Bailey, Director of Marketing and Community Development. "The site's features continue to improve, based almost exclusively on the requests and suggestions of the community, led by our talented and dedicated volunteer Supervisors. It takes the guesswork out of our development plan, as they know exactly what changes will yield a better experience for our contributors."

According to information provided by comScore, WikiAnswers recorded no less than four million unique monthly visitors which means an increase of approximately 317 percent. Pretty impressive, don't you think? But I'm still sure that WikiAnswers has a lot of work to do in order to be able to compete with the giant Yahoo.

Do you remember that Google was also a part of the competition? Those were the good old days... when the Mountain View company also had a Q&A technology, but it decided to shut it down and get focused on other solutions. Recently, it was rumored that Google might prepare a similar service after signs of such a service were spotted in some countries.
