Recently, a Yahoo employee reported that Google copied the entire page of Internet Explorer optimized for Yahoo, adjusting it for IE optimized for Google. After that, Yahoo updated its search engine, adding more powerful features. Google did exactly the same thing. It seems like the two competitors
are evolving together, taking the same actions for the same processes.
Today, Google announced that two lawsuits against the company were ended with a favorable decision for the search giant. So, Yahoo decided to do the same thing.
PC Advisor reported that the giant portal won a lawsuit filed against a China rival, Beijing Sanjiwuxian Internet Technology. Yahoo sued the company for unfair competition because they created their own software that reported Yahoo Toolbar as malware and advised users to uninstall the browser add-on. As you may know, Yahoo toolbar is a browser utility provided as freeware by Yahoo that allows you to protect your system with antivirus solution and pop-up blocker.
"The Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court ruled in favor of Yahoo China, and ordered Beijing Sanjiwuxian to stop engaging in anticompetitive activities and to compensate Yahoo China for unspecified damages and legal costs, Alibaba said. Beijing Sanjiwuxian must also make a public statement that "clarifies all incorrect allegations" made against Yahoo China," PC advisor said.
Yahoo China is based on a partnership with Alibaba.com, a Chinese company that helps the giant portal to evolve in the Asian market. You might know that Yahoo lost some important executives that decided to leave the company because they received better offers from Alibaba.
"In September, Yahoo China filed suit against Beijing Sanjiwuxian, which was founded by a former Yahoo China general manager, charging the company with unfair competition. Yahoo China is operated by Alibaba.com, the Chinese internet company that took over Yahoo's Chinese operations in 2005," PC Advisor added.
