Yahoo made another acqui-hire, looking to grab the team that originally worked on Tapjoy

Yahoo buys yet another company, and this time it’s Distill, a young startup that works in recruiting technical talents.

“We are excited to share the news that the Distill team is off to start a new adventure! We are joining Yahoo. Prior to creating Distill, we were part of the original team behind the creation of Tapjoy, a mobile performance-based advertising platform that drove deep engagement and monetization opportunities for mobile app publishers. We’ll be drawing upon our expertise from the Tapjoy days to help build out Yahoo’s mobile advertising solutions,” reads an announcement posted on Distill’s homepage.

Distill Schedule and Distill Interview are no longer getting any attention from the team and the services are closing down. According to the announcement, Interview will continue working through the end of February, while the Distill platform will remain available until the end of March.

Seven employees from Distill are moving to Yahoo. Given how most of the people in the group had previously worked and helped create Tapjoy, a mobile performance-based advertising platform, that’s what Yahoo was actually looking for, rather than the new HR tools that Distill has.
