Yahoo is now trying to make moves that are similar to its rival's from the Mountain View company, and opens new offices in order to support the giant portal's expansion. The new Yahoo office will be built in Illinois and will employ approximately 100 local engineers, Campus Technology reported today. The employees will be focused on most of the giant portal's applications including Yahoo Search, Yahoo Mail and others. According to the same source, Yahoo made the decision to open an office in Illinois because this region is one of the most important spots when it comes to IT.

"The office will be an extension of Yahoo: It's going to be a Yahoo office with all kinds of activities that range across all the Yahoo products," Ken Timmons, vice president of operations for Yahoo! said according to the same source. "Yahoo will have a strong attracting effect. They're going to attract researchers at the university, students, and, I think ... companies and other interested parties outside Urbana-Champaign to come see what they're doing. We'll all benefit," University of Illinois chancellor Charles Zukoski added.

As you know, the search giant Google opened a huge number of offices in every corner of the world in order to support the evolution of the company and improve its image in certain areas. For example, the Mountain View firm tried to conquer China and the opening of several offices was regarded as the main support for the expansion.

However, China was often one of the lands that rejected every Google attempt so the search giant wasn't too successful when it comes to the evolution on the Asian market. For example, the local leader Baidu, often described as the Chinese Google, attracted the majority of clients while Google had no chance to compete for leadership on the market. Even the consumers were rejecting the Google evolution because it was reported that a lot of fake agents were pretending to be hired by the Mountain View company to sell products in the country.
