Most people enjoy watching several types of sports or, even better, playing them in real life or at least virtually. While Google announced the launch of a portal that would cover the Beijing Olympics, Yahoo! chooses to base its strategy on American football only. The 12th season of Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football comes with new features to make the team building experience as enjoyable as possible.

In plain words, the fantasy football game offers users the possibility of building and virtually training professional football players. The team members can be exchanged through drafts and trades. The players' performances are then measured directly on the field, so that users can see how well they managed to control their players. Registration begins on October 17 but, until then, people can have a look at the new features the management games brings.

Teams can be represented through avatars chosen by users, who can draw and upload their own images, if that's what they always wanted. Yahoo! also brings some good news to those who work hard every season to make their players top-notch: fans will be able to keep their best players, along with the most promising ones, for more seasons in a row. An easy to drag and drop queue and audio alerts were added to make the fantasy football experience more user-friendly. Fans will have more varied possibilities of drafting, as some custom draft features to make online encounters between people more enjoyable were also introduced.

"Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football already has a winning record as the #1 fantasy football game," says Jimmy Pitaro, vice president and general manager, Yahoo! Sports & Entertainment. "All the upgrades we've made to Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football '08 give our users everything they could need to have a championship season and further establish Yahoo! Sports as the leader in the fantasy football space."

Yahoo!'s 2008 initiative is supported by Toyota, Chex Mix and Coca-Cola, along with other sponsors.
