Following the official release of Ubuntu 11.10 and Kubuntu 11.10, here comes Xubuntu 11.10, the Xfce based OS from Canonical.

Canonical has made quite a few modifications to the new version of Xubuntu, starting right from the installation process. gThumb is now in the default Xubuntu 11.10 installation, to help users with image transformations and viewing.

There is also a new default text editor, Leafpad, which has replaced Mousepad, which allows users to print documents.

Even the login manager has changed, as LightDM is the new application that manages logins in Xubuntu 11.10.

Also, some applications have been updated. Onboard (the onscreen keyboard) is now included in the default Xubuntu menus, making it  much easier to access everything using only a mouse or touchpad.

Xubuntu will continue to use Synaptic Package Manager, yet users can still use the Ubuntu Software Center, if they choose to.
