Good if you like to attend LAN parties often

There are several things that might make someone favor a mini case over a full-sized desktop when they're building a gaming computer. If you're among these people, the Xpredator Cube from Aerocool might suit you.

Maybe you just want your computer to take up little space, because your bedroom isn't the largest, or it's cluttered with other computer and electronic parts, or random stuff.

Or maybe you like to attend LAN parties, where you and your friends bring your systems, set up a network and play multiplayer shooters, strategies or whatever else.

In any event, the Xpredator Cube should serve you well enough, providing enough room for pretty much all graphics card sizes if you play your cards right.

The Aerocool Xpredator Cube

In truth, the chassis isn't really a cube. It's not nearly as wide as it is tall or deep. Not that it's the first cube that's called a cube without actually being a cube.

The term has become a sort of unofficial product category for miniature desktop cases that don't put emphasis on being thin, because they need room for tall CPU coolers and full-size graphics cards instead.

Speaking of which, air coolers can be up to 187 mm tall (7.36 inches) and graphics cards can measure up to 320 mm in length (12.54 inches), or 345 mm  / 13.58 inches if you remove the fan installed on the front.

It means you won't get to see nice light pouring out of the front mesh, directly anyhow, but if the other fans in your system have LEDs, you'll get a nice light show regardless. Especially since the new chassis actually does have a side window. Up to six fans can be installed at a time, 200 mm or 140 mm of up to 1.200 rpm, 59.48 CFM, 27.6 dBA.

On that note, the Xpredator Cube also has a horizontal motherboard tray, which you can remove while installing the main components, and just place back inside once you're done. Mini-ITX and Micro-ATX motherboards are supported.

Other features include magnetic, removable PSU dust filter, rubber pads for 3.5-inch HDD shock protection (three tool-free bays) and PSU itself (side panel-facing PSU bay), a 5.25-inch bay, an OD rack below it which can be adapted for two 2.5-inch bays, and a front I/O panel with two USB 3.0 ports, headphone/mic jacks, and an integrated fan controller (up to 15W per fan).

All in all, the Aerocool Xpredator Cube measures 280 x 418 x 412 mm / 11.02 x 16.45 x 16.22 inches and is made of 0.7mm steel featuring a side bar design that makes it harder than usual.

Availability and pricing

The Aerocool Xpredator Cube gaming mini PC case should start selling this week for $125.90 / €99.54.
