Good news for Android fans who like to tinker with the software on their devices, as Xposed Framework has been released for Lollipop handsets.

Among the many things that Android 5.0 Lollipop doesn't do right is that it breaks support for Xposed, which means there were no options to modify ROMs on-the-fly.

Thanks to the folks over at XDA Forums, Xposed Framework now features Android 5.0 Lollipop support. This means that once you install it on your phone, you will be able to tweak your ROM the way you see fit right on the go.

Xposed Framework does not require users to flash any ROMs and brings lots of customization options along with tweaks that can be installed like apps on any rooted smartphones or tablets.

Keep in mind though that Xposed Framework does not do anything by itself, you will need to install plugins or modules that will allow you to tweak any applications installed on your handset.

Xposed Framework is still in alpha, so testers are asked to provide feedback

The reason it took so long to make Xposed work on Lollipop was the difference between ART for KitKat and ART for Lollipop.

Since Xposed Framework's modules patch or tweak on the fly a ROM, by injecting code into the ROM, it absolutely needed support for Lollipop's new ART.

Xposed is still in alpha because those who worked hard on bringing it to Android 5.0 Lollipop have made quite a lot of changes since the last stable release, which need to be tested by folks who know how to use recovery, escape from boot loops and report bugs in a timely and properly fashion.

In order to download and install Xposed for Android 5.0 Lollipop, you will need to follow some instructions and that you can find in the original thread on XDA forums. Also, don't forget to check out the list of working modules for Xposed on Lollipop.
