As I've said in other articles already, this year's winter NAMM was almost all about FireWire and DJs. Many producers have centered all their efforts in coming to the front with better DJing gear and even if there was nothing to really shake the very foundations of the DJ-world, the NAMM has seen things that really meant more than one step forward in this direction.

It's the case of the M-AUDIO who presented the Torq Xponent DJ system. Again, there was nothing never-seen-before brought in by the M-Audio Torq Xponent but what it came with was more than surprising: full-size tactile controls
feeling like the old-time analog knobs and sliders but delivering all the power of the digital era right at your fingertips, all in a very dense and compact unit, as flat as nobody thought possible, combining everything a serious and demanding DJ might ask for with even more features meant to expand the creative possibilities to boundaries yet not sufficiently explored.

The M-Audio Torq Xponent comes with a native software which will allow the DJ to fully interact with the PC (or Apple) computer. The software has been especially designed so the response when a parameter is being changed is almost instantaneous - this means that anyone can work in live situations with the aid of the computer without having to make any compromise.

The USB connectivity and the exceptional MIDI-learn capabilities are completed with the excellent VST support of the native software; imagine that you can actually perform even more combinations while having your fav VST effects as your sidekick. Looping has become more than a simple DJ operation: you can actually work with the 16-steps sampler and use your full creativity when inserting them in your mixes, all in sync, in whatever control mode you'd prefer working: vinyl, CDJ or hybrid. The software component will handle MP3, WAV, AIFF, WMA, Apple lossless and AAC tracks alike and comes with ASIO and Core Audio support so all you have to worry about is creating the best mixes.

And if this isn't enough, I'll just add the ReWire options which means a whole new horizon for any DJ. Even more, when rewired to another DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), the tempo of your current work is locked so the sync remains intact. Technically, you can really "move" your mixes and projects between various platforms; so you can mix anywhere on this great DJ machine!
