The rugged tablet segment has just got a new addition, in the form of the new Xplore XC6, a product sturdy enough to survive basically anything you throw at it, including dirt.

The Xplore XC6 has been released as the industry’s most rugged tablet and we’re going to take a quick spec tour to see why that is.

The slate comes equipped with a battery capable of providing support for up to 8.5 hours of life on a single charge. It also has a multi-resistive display with capacitive-like sensitivity that allows owners to use even with wet fingers or while using gloves.

The screen supports 10-finger multi-touch with pinch and zoom capabilities. The tablet can be easily used outside because it has a brightness level of 1300 NITs.

The Xplore XC6 is MIL-STD-810G certified for vibration and it has been through multiple drop, shock and altitude tests, but has managed to come out unharmed. The device can also stay submerged for up to 30 minutes in up to 1 m / 3.2 ft of water.

The tablet is coated in a magnesium alloy chassis and the rounded, industrial rubber corner bumpers safeguard the product from any additional shock.

Under the hood lies a 4th-gen Intel Core i5-4300U processor fitted with 128GB SSD (upgradable to 256GB). The tablet also comes with 4G capabilities.

Anyway, the slate is already available for purchase starting at a hefty $5,299 / €3,838.
