Japanese Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson is bringing its latest Android-based handsets to shelves in the UK via more wireless carriers, with Orange UK being the latest of them to announce plans for launching the Xperia ray smartphone.

The wireless services provider will bring to the market two flavors of Xperia ray in the near future, one dressed up entirely in black, while the other one wears an appealing white coat.

No specific release date for these models has emerged until now, but both of them can already be seen on Orange UK's website listed with the coming soon tag on them, here and here, respectively.

The Xperia ray is one of the latest devices the company unveiled to the world, boasting a stylish design and appealing specs in a rather affordable form factor.

The handset runs under the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, namely Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and features a fast 1GHz application processor inside.

Moreover, the new mobile phone comes to the market with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for HD video recording.

“Stand out from the crowd with the Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray. Sleek design and cutting edge technology combine to create a stylish phone with formidable features,” the wireless carrier notes.

“Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) and a 1GHz processor ensures downloading apps and surfing the net is very quick.

“The 3.3-inch capacitive touchscreen is intuitive and easy to use whilst the 8-megapixel camera allows you to take great photos. Capture important moments using the HD video recorder or listen to the latest tunes thanks to the FM radio and MP3 player.”

At Orange UK, both flavors of the mobile phone will be made available for free with the signing of a contract agreement with the wireless carrier, but no info on the monthly plans they will be released on is known for the time being.
