It looks like Sony Ericsson continues to exist as a brand, at least until early 2012, when Sony is expected to take full control of the joint venture.

In this regard, Canadian carrier TELUS and Sony Ericsson are about to announce the Xperia ray smartphone.

According to the folks over at MobileSyrup (via tipster), the smartphone will be available on November 2 for as low as $49.99 (36 EUR) with a new three-year agreement, or for a suggested retail price of $379.99 (270 EUR) outright.

Additional contract options are also available and priced at $329.99 (235 EUR) with a one-year agreement and $279.99 (200 EUR) with a two-year commitment.

Xperia ray is a Gingerbread smartphone, which is equipped with a 3.3-inch LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touchscreen and a 1 GHz single core Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon processor.
