Both smartphones run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform

Japanese-Swedish mobile phone maker Sony Ericsson will have two new highly appealing smartphones on shelves in the UK in the near future, namely the Xperia arc S and the Xperia pro.

The former is expected to become available for purchase as soon as this week, on September 30th, and will feature a price tag of £349.99 (around $550 / 400 Euros), at least this is what online retailer Clove suggests.

The mobile phone is listed at the retailer as available for pre-order at the moment in a white flavor, and can be seen here.

As for the Xperia pro, is should hit the shelves in the UK next week, on October 6th, with a price tag of £322.80 (around $500 / 370 Euros) attached to it. It can be seen on retailer's website here.

Both these mobile phones were unveiled to the world during the ongoing year, and pack various high-end features and capabilities, the same as do all of Sony Ericsson's Xperia devices released in 2011.

Xperia arc S comes to the market with a 1.4GHz processor inside, and with a large 4.2-inch touchscreen display, similar to the one packed with the Xperia arc.

On the back, the new device sports an 8-megapixel photo snapper, with LED flash and HD video recording capabilities. It also includes a front-facing camera for video calling.

The specs list of this might phone also includes built-in HDMI connection, along with WiFi and Bluetooth, microSD memory card slot (up to 32GB), and the like.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia pro sports a sliding design, with a large 3.7-inch display with enhanced Mobile BRAVIA Engine that hides a full QWERTY keyboard.

On the back, it features an 8.1-megapixel camera with Exmor R for Mobile, which can offer HD video recording.

Both mobile phones run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, feature the Facebook inside Xperia app from Sony Ericsson, and come with support for a wide range of services and applications.
