Xperia arc, one of the Android-based smartphones the Sony Ericsson launched on the market during the ongoing year, is expected to make an official appearance on shelves in Australia in almost no time, and more proof of that emerged recently.

Following a long series of rumors regarding the launch of Sony Ericsson Xperia arc in Australia in early April, the mobile phone has been listed on Optus' website, with info on its pricing and all.

The wireless carrier reportedly sent dummy units to its stores only a few days ago, which means that it is indeed gearing up for the launch of this device in the very near future.

However, no official announcement on the launch date for this device was made until now. The only thing that the carrier notes on its website, is: “Due to overwhelming demand, please allow up to 3 weeks processing/delivery time.”

One way or the other, it should not be too long before mobile phone users in Australia would have the possibility to purchase the new device from Optus, and all the necessary info on the matter should emerge in few days.

For the time being, we know that Optus aims at making the smartphone available for free on its $79 per month plan for business users, as well as on higher plans, and that it would ask $5 per month for the handset on the $59 per month business plan.

As for the device itself, we should note that it comes with a wide range of highly appealing features, including a fast processor, a large display, and a slim form factor.

“Your life in vivid colors. Videos and stills. Show it all off on the sharp, crisp and clear 4.2" multi-touch Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine. The Xperia arc Android touch phone - designed to be daring,” Optus notes on its website.

“Start with premium materials. Stir in some beautiful curvature. Squeeze down to 8.7 mm. And there it is, a perfect palm fit: the slim, lightweight and strong Xperia arc.”

Specifications list of the new device also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper with Exmor R camera sensor, auto focus, flash and HD video recording capabilities, as well as FM Radio, or built-in GPS receiver.

“Android's flexibility lets you fully personalize the look and behavior of your device,” the wireless carrier also notes.

“Configure your home screen with the widgets you use most. Or set up screens specific to what's most important to you - social network sites, texting, contacts, your calendar, email, RSS, over 150 000 apps with multitasking and flash support.”
