Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile has finally decided to make its Xperia Z2 flagship handset available for purchase in the United States via its own website.

At the moment, the Android-based handset can be seen on the company’s online portal with a price tag of $699.99 (€517) attached to it.

Unfortunately, the smartphone is listed only as available for backorders at the moment, with no specific shipping date for it being revealed just yet.

Undoubtedly, Sony will start shipping the device sooner rather than later, and an official announcement on the matter will emerge in the not too distant future.

As XperiaBlog notes, the Xperia X2 model currently listed on Sony Mobile’s website is the international variant of the device, namely the LTE-enabled Sony D6503.

Thus, the phone arrives in the United States with support for LTE bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 13, 17, 20, which makes it fit for the networks of wireless carriers AT&T and T-Mobile.

Unfortunately, the flagship mobile phone hasn’t arrived on the network of a wireless carrier in the country as of now, although previous reports suggested that Verizon might add it to its offering.

For those out of the loop, we should note that Xperia Z2 was made official in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and that it arrives on shelves with a 5.2-inch TRILUMINOS display for mobile with Live Color LED, capable of delivering a full HD resolution.

According to Sony’s website, the handset arrives in the United States with a 2.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor inside, although it was launched with a 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU.

Moreover, Xperia Z2 sports 3GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory and a mciroSD memory card slot with support for up to 128GB of additional storage space.

On the back, the mobile phone features a 20.7-megapixel camera with 1/2.3'' sensor size, LED flash, HDR, and 4K video recording capabilities. A 2.2MP front camera has also been included on this device, so as to provide users with great video calling capabilities while on the go.

At the same time, the smartphone comes with support for HSDPA (42 Mbps) networks, in addition to said 4G LTE connectivity, while also featuring Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, and a built-in GPS receiver.

The specs list of Xperia Z2 also includes Adreno 330 graphics, a Li-Ion 3200mAh battery that can deliver up to 19 hours of talk time, and Google’s Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system loaded on top.
