Sony Ericsson seems to be pretty busy with enhancing its Android lineup, both through the delivery of software update for some of the already launched mobile phones, as well as through planning some more smartphones that would run under Google's operating system.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, the first Android-based smartphone from the company, was pushed to the market with the 1.6 version of the platform on board, and started to receive the Android 2.1 OS update a few weeks ago.

At that time, the mobile phone maker announced that the software solution was made available for Nordic countries, and that it would be rolled-out to other markets in the near future.

Today, we learned that it was already released in Australia and Canada, and it appears that German users also have now the possibility to taste the Android 2.1 OS on their devices.

The company announced the availability of this software update via its Twitter account, a recent article on xperiax10.net reads, while adding that it would be available for all unbranded handsets, as well as for those on O2's airwaves.

When it comes to the future handsets that Sony Ericsson might be pushing to the market with the Android OS on board, we should note the Xperia X12 Anzu, which leaked last week.

Some more info on the handset also emerged, including the fact that it should arrive on shelves sometime in March, with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board.

At the same time, some info on the handset's price tag emerged, pointing at a possible €650 ($890) cost when the device lands in the first quarter of the next year.

All in all, it appears that Android won't be the only OS that Sony Ericsson is interested in with its future smartphones, as info on two Windows Phone 7-based devices from the company also emerged.
