Those Android fans in the United States interested in the purchase of an Xperia X10 smartphone from AT&T have now the possibility to get one unit for free upon the purchase of another one.

Sony Ericsson and the wireless carrier have just made the Xperia X10 available in a Buy One Get One for free promotion until January 1st next year.

The handset was announced officially about a year ago, and it might seem a bit old to some, but it still looks pretty appealing, especially with the said promotion in place for it.

The offer is available only for those customers interested in the signing of a contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

The price tag for Xperia X10 was set at $99.99 on a two-year contract. While the second device is available for free, it would require the signing of a two-year contract agreement as well.

The availability of this deal was announced officially via Sony Ericsson's Twitter account.

In case there are some of you who might have not encountered the device before, we should note that it comes with a 4-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a fast 1 GHz Snapdragon 8250 application processor.

The handset also sports a “8.1 MP camera with video shoots brilliant photos. Features include face detection, auto scene detection, face recognition, smile detection and touch focus,” the wireless carrier notes.

The specifications list of Xperia X10 also includes 400 MB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

At the same time, we should note that it comes with 3G connectivity, and with WiFi and Bluetooth capabilities, as well as with a GPS receiver to enable navigation applications.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 runs under Google's Android operating system. Launched with Android 1.6 on board, the handset was upgraded to Android 2.1 not too long ago. However, the AT&T-branded Xperia X10 units would taste the solution at a later date.

The Android device can be seen on AT&T's website here.
