Via Carphone Warehouse

Officially released on September 30, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is not yet commercially available in all the markets where the Swedish-Japanese company said it would be.

Mobile users from the UK, however, can get the new Xperia X1 as of now. Although the smartphone is set to be offered by the second largest British mobile carrier, namely O2, you can't (yet) buy the X1 directly from it, but you will find it via Carphone Warehouse, offered for free to those who sign an 18-month contract agreement and choose a data plan of 45 GBP (about 56 Euros or 75 USD) per month. Not bad at all, especially for those who need a long-term contract agreement anyway.

Unfortunately, the X1 is out of stock for the moment – customers have probably rushed to buy it and the UK carrier might have not expected a large number of requests. Anyway, it shouldn't take long for O2 to replenish the X1 stocks, so in a couple of days the smartphone will probably be available for purchase again.

Coming as the first Windows Mobile device from Sony Ericsson, Xperia X1 runs on the latest version of the OS (6.1) and includes a wide range of advanced features. These are: a 3 inch TFT touchscreen display with 480 x 800 pixels, optical joystick, a full QWERTY keyboard, world-wide GSM and HSDPA connectivity, GPS and A-GPS, Wi-Fi, push email, Internet Explorer, Pocket Office, a 3.5mm headset jack, Media player, FM radio with RDS, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, a 3.2 Megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, 400MB of built-in memory and support for microSD/microSDHC cards of up to 16GB.

By the end of October, Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 should be available in lots of other markets besides UK, including most of Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America.
