Sony Mobile already announced it would launch its Xperia NXT series of smartphones in North America. The Japanese company already introduced the Xperia S, P and sola earlier this month, but they are only available through Sony retails stores.

This means that neither US-based carrier will sell the Xperia P, S and sola in the near future. However, all three smartphones are fully compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile USA’s networks. Keep in mind that only AT&T network will support 3G connectivity for these three smartphones.

Today, Sony Mobile added the Xperia U to its US portfolio. The smartphone is now available for purchase for only $300 USD outright. Sony Xperia U is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform, but it is already scheduled for an Ice Cream Sandwich.

Sony is expected to launch other Xperia smartphones in the US as well, including Xperia go and Xperia tipo. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
