Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is expected to unveil to the world its next flagship smartphone in a matter of weeks, the latest rumors on the matter suggest.

The device, none other than the previously leaked Sony LT29i “Hayabusa,” is reportedly set to hit shelves as Xperia XT.

The new device would sport a design and specs resembling the Xperia T (LT30 Mint), which explains the name choice, rumor has it.

Sony has yet to officially confirm any of the upcoming device’s hardware capabilities, something that should happen at the pre-IFA 2012 event it has set for August 29th in Berlin.

The differences between the two devices remain a mystery as well for the time being, but XperiaBlog suggests that Xperia T would benefit from a wider global availability.

As for the hardware that Sony would pack the Sony (LT29i “Hayabusa”) Xperia TX with, a 4.6-inch touchscreen display that can deliver a 720 x 1280-pixel resolution should be the first on the list.

Additionally, the smartphone is expected to feature a dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 application processor inside, which should provide impressive performance levels.

Xperia TX would also pack 1GB of RAM inside, along with 16GB of internal storage and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional memory.

On the back, the smartphone would feature a 13-megapixel photo snapper with support for 1080p video recording, complemented by a 1.3MP front-facing camera, a great option for making video calls.

Other specs would include support for LTE connectivity, along with a 1700mAh battery inside, and Google’s Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich platform loaded on it right from the start.

Overall, the upcoming Xperia TX is said to be nothing else than the international flavor of Sony’s Xperia GX smartphone, which landed on shelves in Japan only last week (and sold out in about a day or so).
