Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is getting ready for the release of a new software update for the owners of Xperia S (LT26i) smartphones, and has already confirmed plans on the matter.

Posting on the official Sony Mobile forums, a company representative unveiled that the new update is planned for deployment on week 28 (the week commencing July 8, 2013).

As XperiaBlog notes, the new firmware is set to resolve a bug that affects the NFC capabilities of the device when users are trying to beam content to other handsets.

For the time being, however, no specific info on what the update might also include has been provided, nor on whether it will be pushed to devices as a new firmware over the 6.2.B.0.211 version that has already landed in some regions (this might be a wider deployment of the “211” release).
