Sony Ericsson is currently rolling-out a new OS upgrade for the owners of Xperia devices, namely the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS, meant to arrive on all of the company's handsets in the Xperia lineup that were launched during the ongoing year.

There are various enhancements that the new software update will bring along on these devices, including the swipe text input feature that we detailed only recently, as well as the Music and Video Unlimited feature that is being presented in the video below.

The new Android 2.3.4 software update for Xperia devices will bring along access to Sony Entertainment Network, and users will be able to enjoy a wide range of songs and videos while on the go.

“With the 2.3.4 update, you will have access to Sony Entertainment Network, the entertainment content service Sony recently announced, and which will open your possibility of entertainment on the go on your Xperia smartphone,” Cristina Porter notes in a post on Sony Ericsson's blog.

With Music Unlimited being available on all Xperia devices that were launched during the ongoing year, users will have access to millions of songs while on the go, and will also be able to sync their own music library and play it from the cloud.

The music comes from major labels and will be accessible not only from Xperia handsets, but also from other devices that users might have at home.

“You can sync your personal music library and play from the cloud, listen to new songs, create your own playlists and listen to music channels based on your mood with no ads and unlimited skips,” Cristina Porter continues in the said blog post.

“I use Music Unlimited a lot, as it has my whole music library, and I can access through the Xperia ray I am using, so I can listen to my music in my car, or I access my library through the PlayStation 3 at my house.”

At the same time, thousands of movies are available for Xperia owners through the new Video Unlimited service on their devices, coming from major studios.

“You can buy or rent the movie you want to watch on your phone, when you are waiting on line or commuting, or later connect your Xperia through HDMI to your screen so you watch it in a bigger screen, in your house,” the blog post reads.

The two services have been made available only in a small amount of markets for the time being, but they should reach more of them in the future.

At the moment, Music Unlimited is available in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Australia, United States of America, Ireland and New Zealand. Video Unlimited was launched in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Australia, United States of America, Japan and Canada.
