Unveiled back in February, Sony Ericsson’s Xperia PLAY has finally made it to C Spire Wireless. The carrier announced that the smartphone is available beginning today online and in all retail stores for $49.99 (37 EUR) after a $50 reward card and a new two-year customer agreement with data.

C Spire Wireless, also known as Cellular South, teamed up with Sony Ericsson to offer customers that purchase the Xperia PLAY five additional free games for download from the EA Games mobile website until January 15, 2012, including Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Need for Speed Shift, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Dead Space and FIFA 12.

The Xperia PLAY is the only PlayStation Certified gaming device that includes all the advanced features, apps and capabilities of an Android device, thus turning it into the ultimate mobile gaming machine.

Although the smartphone is powered by the Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system, Sony Ericsson already confirmed plans to upgrade all its Xperia phones launched in 2011 to Ice Cream Sandwich.

Besides the five free games offers by Sony Ericsson and C Spire, the device comes with more pre-loaded game titles, such as Madden NFL 11, Bruce Lee Dragon Warrior, The Sims 3, Star Battalion, Asphalt 6:Adrenaline, Tetris  and Crash Bandicoot.

Additional features of the Xperia PLAY include a 1 GHz single core processor, dual cameras, 400 MB of internal memory, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB, 8 GB memory card included).

This strategic partnership with C Spire will help us meet growing consumer demand for the Xperia PLAY by making the advanced gaming and mobile communications device more widely available. The popularity of the Xperia PLAY coupled with the dependability, reliability and coverage of the C Spire network make this a must-have gift for the serious gamer,” said Peter Farmer, head of North America marketing for Sony Ericsson.
