Xperia PLAY Gets Exclusive Lode Runner X Game

A new title added to the list of over 150 optimized games for the handset

In February this year, Sony Ericsson unveiled to the world their first PlayStation-certified smartphone, the Xperia PLAY, a device that promised to deliver a unique gaming experience to all users. Truthful to that statement, the handset vendor has just announced a new game available exclusively on this device, namely Lode Runner X from Tozai Games. Xperia PLAY already enjoys a portfolio of over 150 optimized titles, available through a variety of partnerships and agreements that Sony Ericsson signed with various game developers around the world, but there's always room for new, appealing titles, one should agree,

Starting with November 2011, the new game will be exclusively available for download on the Xperia PLAY smartphones, as well as on other Xperia devices from Sony Ericsson.

“Lode Runner” is one of the popular to Android console hit and gaming franchise, and this will be the first time that it will make it to devices running under Google's Android operating system.

Scott K. Tsumura, co-founder, Tozai Games, commented “We’re delighted to be launching Lode Runner X on Xperia PLAY – the smartphone’s performance and physical controls add a great new dimension to our title which until now has only been available on traditional games consoles.”

The Xperia PLAY smartphone was just announced for the Japanese market, as well as on its way to wireless carrier AT&T in the US, which shows Sony Ericsson's commitment to making it available for as many consumers as possible.

In the US, it will arrive at AT&T on September 18th (it is now available in the country via Verizon Wireless), while being set to hit the shelves at NTT DOCOMO in Japan later this fall (it will go on pre-order in mid-October).
