Mobile phone carrier O2 UK is gearing up for the release of new Xperia devices on its airwaves, including the Xperia S, which is set for a March release, as well as the lower spec’d Xperia P and Xperia U devices.

Both of these new Sony smartphones were made official about two weeks ago during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, and both of them run under Google’s Android operating system.

Although they are not as high-end as the Xperia S, the two devices still have a lot to offer to their users, including appealing graphics and great camera capabilities. They can now be seen on O2's coming soon page.

Moreover, both of them feature the same design line that Sony pushed out when announcing the Xperia S. All three handsets are part of the company’s Xperia NXT lineup.

The Xperia P, for example, will land on shelves with a 4-inch Reality Display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine, while featuring an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back.

It will also hit shelves with a 1 GHz dual-core application processor inside, complemented by 16GB of flash storage.

“Watch everything clearly on Xperia P’s ultra-bright Reality Display with WhiteMagic technology. Shoot the action as it happens in full HD with the 8 megapixel camera. It starts up fast, snaps faster and is excellent in low light,” O2 notes on its website.

“Brighten up your day with your favourite music from Music Unlimited or the latest movies from Video Unlimited, all on Sony Entertainment Network. View your pictures, movies and TV shows on your tablet, TV or laptop – it’s so easy to connect.”

The Xperia U, which is the cheapest new Sony device, will provide users with great Sony entertainment capabilities and with a stylish and compact design that can be easily personalized.

“With xLoud and Sony 3D surround sound audio technology integrated into the music player, enjoy a crisp and loud sound experience. Stream music from the Xperia U to wireless speakers with a touch using DLNA,” the wireless carrier notes.

“The transparent band illuminates to match the colour of photos viewed in the gallery or the album art of music tracks currently playing. Xperia U can also be personalised with exchangeable pink and black caps, and themes to reflect your personality and mood.”
