With a curved body, it could offer new ways of interacting with surroundings

Sony is no stranger to handsets with transparent screens, and the company might bring to the market a new such device in the not too distant future, at least this is what enthusiasts are hoping for.

Unlike the previous phone with a transparent display, however, the forthcoming one, provided that Sony is indeed considering the launch of a new such product, might be a smartphone, most probably included in the Xperia lineup.

Coming from designer Jsus (via concept-phones), the Xperia 2013 concept phone is a representation of what this device could be all about.

Not only does the phone sport a large, transparent touchscreen display powered by the Mobile BRAVIA engine, but it also comes with a curved body, similar to the one present on Xperia arc.

The previously released Sony Ericsson Pureness did not have too many features to offer, mainly due to the fact that it was a dumb phone, but an Android-based device with a transparent screen would most probably have a lot to offer to its users.

Of course, we’re still wondering where the internal circuitry and the battery would be placed inside this device, since it would be rather difficult to make all of them transparent as well, but the idea of having a transparent full-touch smartphone in the hand still sounds appealing.

Xperia 2013 has the looks, undoubtedly, especially with that blue line around the edge that appears to be glowing.

Provided that one such smartphone is designed, it would certainly offer new ways of engaging with the surroundings, as well as a new manner of interacting with the device itself, so as to increase its functionality.

As for the hardware specs, we can imagine that it would be packed with silicon yet to be officially introduced on the market, such as a new quad-core application processor, or a new type of camera sensor.
